Coaching experience. Coach Megas has been coaching select basketball in McLean for the past 20 years (the last 16 at the 8th-grade level) and has over 30 years of basketball coaching experience. He was named the FYCBL 8th grade Division 1 coach of the year in 2014-15 and the 8th-grade Division 2 coach of the year in both the 2012-2013 and the 2008-2009 seasons.
Coaching philosophy. Coach Megas' coaching goals and philosophy include preparing the girls to play high school basketball - have fun, compete hard, and be integral members of a team. Commitment to the team and teammates is very important. Gerry likes to play an up-tempo transition game combined with man-to-man defense and encourages his players to develop their one-on-one skills and have the confidence to attack the basket. He places a lot of emphasis on skill development and also helps his players appreciate the mental part of the game.

Originally from the Seattle area, Jenna moved to northern Virginia with her husband following graduate school at the University of Notre Dame. This is her 6th year coaching basketball and her third season with McLean Select. In high school, she played varsity basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and cross country, and competed in college lacrosse at the University of Portland. After college, she spent 3 seasons refereeing high school basketball before stepping back into coaching. Jenna works in strategy consulting and is an avid runner- Currently training for the Marine Corps Marathon.
